It is a nice speaker but some strange thing happened. I received ATC SCM 50 ASLT last week and replaced 40 A. May I know you are using 1 or 2 F112 for your stereo? He is immediate, straight forward, freindly vibes and I like his beard. I do have to mention Joel Chia’s exceptional customer service. The vocal tonality is exceptional and ATC talents in translating vocals and voices is phenomenal and eerily real. Overall from top to bottom I am very happy. Each speaker weighs 28kg and is securely planted on my Dynaudio Stand 4 and I think its a rock solid stand from Dynaudio. The amp pack behind the speakers does gets warm, typical of any Class A/B amplifier, and warm is a good thing.

I did fine tune the gain on the speakers by trimming down -6dB. Installation was straight forward all I need is a power cord from the power conditioner and balance XLR from the preamplifier. I paired them up with a JL Audio E110 to get below 40hz and integration was fuss free.

In a not too perfect small room its a pretty perfect system overall, well balanced with no issues on bass.
#ATC SUBWOOFER DRIVERS#
Effectively each drivers are separately powered and I have also seamlessly paired with a subwoofer. I attribute the clear separation to the biamping effect since the tweeter is separately powered in Class A/B 50w while mid is powered in Class A/B 200w. The vast canvass of musical painting became vividly alive in front of me without me even trying. It has a distinctive soundstage clarity and I can effortlessly place each and every instrument, parts, vocals, etc. I kept coming back to separation and soundstage in my listening sessions. Musicality is a big word and can often be misinterpreted. I am pleasantly rewarded by its depth in character and musicality once I got over its utilitarian boxy look.
#ATC SUBWOOFER PRO#
Honestly the SCM20ASL Pro is the ugliest looking pair of speakers I have ever bought but its also my first pair of active speakers. Musically depends what electronics you match with these speakers and it will playback with the same tonality of your source. Also I have heard the passive versions of ATCs and was impressed with its no frill design yet has a no nonsense performance and musicality. I can now see my floor and my wife has an easier life vacuuming and mopping too - happy wife = happy life :)ĪTC Active speakers to me is the only way forward after combing through the internet and listening to a number of active set up. Getting rid of these bi-wiring speaker cables on the floor as well as cable lifters is liberating. I could have simplified further by combining the DAC/CDP/Preamp/Streamer into one but I am not convince in its fidelity.

I have kept my source CDP/DAC, a preamplifier, power conditioner, and a simple streaming source. I sold my passive speakers, stereo class A/B amplifiers, got rid of two pairs of speaker cables for biwiring, removed at least two tiers of equipment, and lowered my rack. In the end my simple solution is to downsize. More amplifiers also means more wires and more space needed. Having separate amplifiers to individual drivers have a distinct and audible improvement in fidelity. I still prefers a manageable hobby that is not outright in your face.Īt the same time I have always wanted to bi-amplify my speakers. Eventually it runs in contrary of the original intent of having a small high fidelity setup in the comfort of my small house. After 12 to 15 years in this hobby my rack size has grown and so has the equipment. I have always been for a small 2 ways stand mount monitors for practical reasons. You can also consider the used market as from time to time you may come back some great bargain for much less.īeyond music.whisper sweet little nothings to your love ones and health is gold.
#ATC SUBWOOFER PLUS#
So for anyone that is going for a good reference sound in a study room size a pair of SCM20ASL Pro plus a Fathom F112 and a good source with some good ICs/PCs may sound quite dear for some but its really great value. The sub completely vanished (of cos not physically) the moment music plays and flows freely. I have read a lot about the F112 for many years but never imagine how seamless the integration can be with the ATC.
#ATC SUBWOOFER DRIVER#
The F112 has the reference W7 driver that is a notch above the E112 that is already a great sub itself. There are some minor improvements I have made that are more of a refinement and not really a leap in performance.Īfter several months of great musical experience I decided to take the plunge with Fathom F112 and sold off my E110. Thank God I did a little "remodeling" of my listening room and changes to my system early in the year. A lot has changed since Jan 2020 where I shared about my excitement of going active.
